Sustained, ongoing happiness isn’t something that is attainable, nor realistic, anyways. The thing that I believe is attainable, even if we don’t achieve all of our dreams and goals, is contentment.
However, something interesting has happened; I think I may be more resilient than I once thought.
Nonetheless, my soul remains on the rolling hills of the Palouse.
What makes you happy while you’re doing it? Or, more importantly, what gives you a sense of purpose?
It was on our descent that I had the realization that I mentioned at the beginning of the article: Missoula is that place that has that something for me, that inexplicable magic.
As someone who has struggled with mental illness much of my life, and in the wake of the tragic suicides of people such as Kate Spade, Anthony Bourdain, Tyler Hylinski, and the countless others not in the celebrity spotlight that take their lives every day, I felt the need to make a short post about the importance of tending to our mental health.
