Writing

Explore Washington State

As a freelance contributor for Explore Washington State, I travel to different off-the-beaten-path locations in Washington and write about the trip, my experience, and provide background and history on where I am. My goal is to be a part of the organization’s goal of stoking the tourism industry in the state, support local businesses (particularly in small and/or rural towns that may not get as much exposure), and encourage people to get outside and enjoy nature as responsible, conscientious stewards of the environment. Below are links to a handful of articles I’ve written for Explore Washington State.

Marketing Campaigns

Washington State University Transportation Services

I served as Transportation Options Coordinator for WSU Transportation for three years, which not only included running and facilitating existing programs, but creating and launching new programs as well. The goal of these programs were to serve the university and state missions of reducing the university’s carbon footprint, as well as providing low-cost, user-friendly, attractive alternative transportation options. Thus, effectively marketing these programs via print, social media, and digital platforms was a key component of this position.

In this position, through the use of multi-media marketing campaigns and employment of The 5 Stages of Behavior change model, I achieved the following:

Find Your Way on Crimson and Gray

Increased year-over-year city-wide transit ridership for the first time in 6 years, via the Find Your Way on Crimson and Gray campaign. This campaign was ran via print, social media, and digital channels, and featured a new wayfinding system utilizing campus colors and logos. I created the conceptual design for this project. Final graphic design completed by WSU Communications Department.

Coug Commute Advisor

3% reduction in campus-wide drive alone rate via marketing of multiple alternative programs, most notably the creation and launching of the Coug Commute Advisor program. This program was ran via print, social media, and digital channels. It also utilized a direct response style communication system with leads, and ongoing, personal communication with leads in order to move them through the conversion funnel. . I created the conceptual design for this project. Final graphic design completed by WSU Communications Department.

Transit Ridership Increase and Department Logo Re-Design

Through a grassroots marketing campaign passed a $10 increase to student fees, passed by the student body by over 70%. This campaign was ran via print, social media, and digital channels, as well as canvasing efforts on campus and around the city. Furthermore, during this project I also developed conceptual design for a new department logo to be featured im the campaign. The new logo featured the five key modes of transportation our department facilitated and promoted. Final graphic design completed by WSU Communications Department.
