Nonetheless, my soul remains on the rolling hills of the Palouse.
It was just my trusty one-year-old Blue-Heeler and Australian Shepherd mix, Maizy, and myself, as we made our way up the winding trail of Moscow Mountain’s West-Twin peak.
Accepting that one day we’ll all be dead frees us from our fears, and helps us to not sweat the small stuff, and unshackles us from the arbitrary strictures of society.

That’s not to say I’m not appreciative of the things in my life that I do have, it just means I want to take that next step, and continue progressing.
Snow awakens a child-like sense of wonder, stoking the adult imagination. It brings you back to memories of building snow forts with siblings on a snow day and heading inside afterward for grilled cheese, chicken noodle soup, and in my sister’s and my case, the thousandth screening of The Wind in the Willows.
